Journalist Christopher Moloney has an awesome project going on. He goes to places where great movies have been shot and takes a picture of the location and inserts a clip from the movie. Brilliant!

For the January 2013 Issue of W magazine – Art Meets Fashion – actress Jessica Chastain becomes a muse and canvas for four outstanding artists – Chantal Choffe, Rineke Dijkstra, George Condo and Mickalene Thomas. Each one of them created a look with Jessica Chastain as the main focus. From photo shoots to painted portraits, the results are mighty, fashiony, and oh so artsy!

Can’t wait to get my hands on this issue. Quite the inspiration, isn’t it?

Amira Fritz was definitely ahead of the trend – she took these pictures in 2007! Waay before all of the other floral photo shoots starting popping out on Pinterest, not to mention she took them using film. Yep. The good ol’ analog magic. Love the graininess and purple tones. Wouldn’t they make a great Fall lookbook?

Remember I wanted to incorporate more topics to the blog but still remain connected to art and design? Well, today’s post is the perfect example; food and art coming together in perfect balance in Dietlind Wolf’s photographs. The styling is great! Very simple and creative. Those watercolor illustrations are a super clever way to substitute props, and the white background makes every color pop out. Delish! Ok I’m totally getting hungry right now – let’s just go and munch on something as colorful as the images above, who’s with me?!

Have you guys gotten your hands on the new issue of Kinfolk mag? No? Ok, then you are seriously missing out on holiday awesomeness. This issue of Kinfolk is full of wholesome stories and beautiful photos with the usual “kinfolky” feeling; simple and natural.

With that in mind, today’s post featuring German photographer Daniel Büttner is all about being natural… and grand. His photos taken in High Tauern National Park are simply stunning! You seriously don’t need much editing when nature does all the work for you. I guess the trick is to find the right angle that catches as much of this beautiful landscape as possible – that and also having some serious climbing gear! Lucky for us, there are dare devils like Daniel that can snap photos of places that are just too crazyburgers (yah, that’s totally a word).

A splash of color – the perfect way to get the day started, especially during this cold dark days.

The Incomplete Dictionary of Show Birds by Luke Stephenson is a collection of photographs showcasing beautiful birds. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any of these live, maybe just a canary and perhaps a toucan – but my god, some of those cute birdies have such stunning colors. No doubt nature is the shizz when it comes to color palettes, patterns and impressive design.

Together As Always is a project by Julianne Aguilar which serves as a digital archive of handwritten notes found in second-hand books. Are you hooked? I am!

In the words of Julianne – Together As Always:

This project explores the internet as both an inherent archive and a new way of presenting art to the public by way of social network (Tumblr). The inscriptions are grouped by tag to find trends in theme and occasion. As trends emerge, viewers are able to browse by tag, which include holidays, names and dates. It also celebrates the beauty of books, and their ability to become either sacred objects guarded by archivists or next-to garbage that get sent to thrift stores.

From fashion to diets – everything works in cycles and whatever was considered “obsolete” or “not current” is totally making a comeback. I believe same thing will apply to books at some point – all of these tablets and crazy phones will perhaps try to substitute them, but they’ll never go away. Projects like Together As Always will help keep the written word alive.

These images by Nacho Ormaechea make think of what people are really up to – you know? Like, grandma here is all cute and quiet, but maybe she’s really thinking of that naughty night she had at the motel when she was 18 with grandpas’ best friend. Or what about that kid with the iPod, looking all thug-y – maybe he just wants to be in a broadway musical.

Maybe yes, maybe no. Only Nacho knows! (He created all these images as a personal project, pretty neat no?).
