257 pages of pure Australian interior eye candy, that’s what the second volume of Spaces by Frankie Magazine is all about.

Take a peek right in here!

Spaces by Frankie Magazine

Spaces Volume Two is hot off the press and it’s everything you can expect from Frankie; quirky interiors, loads of colour, and tons of inspiration for your creative space.

It’s no secret that Australians are changing the game in the design/art industry, and now we get to see where these creative beings work and play! It’s a little sneak peek into their world and the things that make them tick. You would think that most of these places were carefully designed to look the way they are, but most of them are homes and studios that were simply shaped by everyday life.

There’s also lots of kitschy details that make the whole thing come together and look more “lived in”. Dudes, I got my own copy already and I haven’t put it down. It also looks SO GORGE as a coffee table book. Win win!

Here, check out this video with these super cute Aussies and their community studio (so jealous!)

Thanks Frankie for sending me a copy of this wonderful gem!

Oh man. This week went by flyiiiing. So sorry I didn’t get to squeeze a food post, but you know, sometimes one’s schedule gets a bit too cray…even for baking!

Anywho. At least I got some awesome photos to tease your interior-taste-buds. This is the house of Niels Strøyer Christophersen (say that 3 times) Creative Director of FRAMA, a Danish design company that’s the bees knees. Every single one of their creations is an ode to classic / contemporary design and all of their pieces are minimal and functional.

This same ethos is spilled and splashed all over his own home. I mean COME ON, the place looks like a still life painting! No wonder why he’s so inspired all the time.

On that same note, let’s get some inspiration packed on the weekend so we can come back next week kicking butt! Yes? Happy weekend!

A foodie’s paradise! Right? I mean, cooking alone is pretty awesome, now can you imagine whipping up a bunch of summer concoctions in a beautiful space like this one? GAH! You’d probably create an artful feast worthy enough for the editors of Bon Apetit mag to drop by.

Though, I’m unsure if the space in real life would look as modern – the photos are amazing, so I’m assuming yes, but sometimes these pastels are tricky and can make you feel like all of the sudden you’re sitting in a cupcake store and you’re about to snort powder sugar.

Regardless, this is a pretty sweet space to leave us interior-day-dreaming for the weekend. Hope you enjoy the sun! See you next week amigos.

This home just screams CLASS!! It’s so chic and elegant that it nearly broke my blog’s server. Too fancy for it.

This midcentury heaven is the home of prop stylist Joanna Lavén, who I’d like to be besties with. Seriously, to.die.for. It doesn’t matter where you look: every trinket, every plant, and every perfectly folded blanket makes absolute sense. This is one of those homes where I’d like to live for the rest of my life, but I’d also like to develop the ability to levitate so I don’t ruin the decor.

Oh and the photography is stunning. Those purple-y hues are making me feel things. Really classy things.

House for mother is a project by Swedish architecture studio Förstberg Arkitektur & Formgiving. The house is divided in two volumes – that’s right, not two sections or two parts because that’s like so last century – two volumes that are very similar but have different features.

All the light and soft colours in this house are giving me a serious case of house envy. I just finished spring cleaning my apartment and I thought I finally made it look somewhat decent..now that I see this house I feel like I live in a hamster cage ha! Oh well, the grass is always greener…

More house envy and other awesome projects by Arkitektur & Formgiving over here.

Oh my, what a delightfully posh cafe in a delightfully posh location! It makes me wanna zig-a-zig-ah! So if you wanna be my lover…..What? Ok, even in writing I’m a total failure when I try to sound British (you should hear my Harry Potter impersonation, it sounds as if he had stayed in Cancun for months and picked up a drunken spring break accent).

These shots are from Hally, a new swanky-pants cafe in London’s shishi poo hood Parsons Green. Its gorgeous california-inspired interiors could cheer up the moodiest of london-foggers. Even Goopy Paltrow would totally approve.

I’m lovin’ how other cities are bringing other cities within their city. It’s a total design tongue twister that’s just perfect for those who can’t always travel to a foreign destination to live the full experience or for those looking for a change of scenery. Say, Melbourne has TONS of Parisian inspired cafes and New York has loads of Scandinavian-styled stores, so it’s only a matter of time before the rest of us catch up to this global game.

Here in Vancouver we are starting to see a small, but steady, trickling of US and Australian inspired eateries and shops. What about your city? Any cool spots like this one?

Sometimes I like to play the equivalent of “dress up” but with rooms. If you want to play with me, here are the instructions:

1. Go to a site where you know you’ll find the best interior shots
2. Make yourself a drink
3. Sit down and start collecting images of amazing rooms, rooms that inspire you and make you feel a bit jealous
4. Make another drink
5. Make a list of objects in that room – doesn’t matter if you can afford them – actually, if you can’t afford them, even better. Go over the list and make an imaginary budget of how much money you need to afford that lifestyle.
6. Make anotha driinnk, wooooo!
7. Like, for real, who…ok. Just freaking look at those rooms. Aren’t they beautiful? Now, come back to reality and look around you, like WTF? Do you live at a salvation army? Pffft, gurl, yu gon need sum holmes on homos in yer home.
8. Gurl, just fucking pour yourself a doubllle on the rocks already, actually, take the whole bottle wit youuu. #YOLO
9. So tell me, who da fuck livz in these houses? HOW CAN ANYONE AFFORD THIS? DO THEY EVEN EAT OR SHIT? WHY IS EVERHTHING IMMACULATE? WHATEVRRR SCREW THEM AND THEIR BLUSH-HUED ALPACA RUGS!! SAY WHAT?? YOU DON’ KNOW ME!! *Sip more of your drink* *chug it all*
10. Then pass out….

Whenever you wake up the next day you’ll be back to normal and you’ll have left your rage in the past. Isn’t it fun?! It’s like cheap therapy. Best of all, the internet is a cornucopia of interior images so you can play room dress up whenever you want. I know, I should give workshops about this, a total breakthrough!

Happy weekend!

My oh my. Am I (are we) green with envy today! This home of Scandinavian blogger Josefin Hååg is minimal design heaven. So clean and uncluttered! How is this possible? (though, she might have cleaned up quite a lot for this shoot). Have you ever sat down in your couch and all of the sudden be all like “shit…this place needs a somethin’ somethin’”? I do it all the time! And I never end up changing a thing, ha!

But when you see this kind of inspiration, you cannot help to feel a lustful attraction to home decor stores, including the shopping-hang-over-why-did-I-buy-this-crap guilt that comes afterwards.

Maybe if we move to some Scandinavian country they’ll give us this kind of apartment as part of our welcome package!?

PS. Her space doesn’t seem to be HUGE but she has it in such a way that looks super bright and spacious. We must learn her ways!

Have you guys been doing good deeds? Did you light a few extra candles to the interior design gods? Well, whatever it is you did, it totally worked! My fellow interior lovers, our prayers have been answered! Guess what? Elle Sweden has launched an online image gallery that’s bursting at the seams with inspiration, all of your enjoyment and stylish masturbatory pleasure.

Basically we are about to spend 20584 more hours online gawking at all of the amazingness that this gallery is. On the other hand, this whole thing really makes me anxious about my place, which all of the sudden feels like a college-dorm-full-of-cheap-shit dump. Wait, no no.. relax…relax..it’s all good. FAACK! Can’t stop..

Anyways, I’m gonna go bite my nails and rock in the corner while I tell myself my apartment is beautiful as is. While I calm down, check out the gallery – and bring valium with you!

Ay dios mio. I’m gonna..I’m gonna..Someone pass me my smelling salts! *sniff* ok, ok. I’m good. Shit, that was close.

Well, that’s what happens when you see people living in such amazing spaces like this heavenly pad in Hackney, London, inhabited by furniture designer Martino Gamper and artist Francis Upritchard. PURE BEAUTY! I mean, what else can you expect when you get two super talented creative minds under the same roof? Holmes on Homes? HA! GAG.

I absolutely love all the colour and textures in this house, it is far from being boring or over the top and, above all, it looks cozy! I bet that if we all lived in a place like this we would be pumped with energy and we’d wake up to go to work 100X faster…while that happens, let’s go back to our cubicles and make one freaking giant cup of coffee – I’ll meet you by the water cooler so we can bitch about the weather.
