Flower power activate! It’s been some time since I’ve featured crazy colourful mixed media (considering I was obsessed with it last year). I think you were too, right? (we all were!).

These collages couldn’t be found at a better time – right when the late spring/early summer colours start to burst. Ciara Phelan has done a great job at capturing sunshine-drenched moments with her mixed media, especially with all those amazingly tasty fruits.

Some of her collages have been featured in publications like Oprah mag (yes, THE Oprah), so that’s a stamp of approval of the universe (probably the good ol’ G.O.D. pinned it already too).

And of course, the whole collection couldn’t be complete without a majestic pineapple (the one popping out of the pill), so that’s an instant win for me. Go ahead and soak your eyes in more bright collages on Ciara’s site.

Marcela Cardenas Transicionales

Oh Marcela Cardenas, we love this! The hues, the huuuess; blush, mint, violet, and several earthy tones in between – all this plus soft velvety fur and a few drawings on glass. BAM. A visual cocktail to get your weekend started.

I know fur is a bit of a touchy subject for many (I’m with you on that) so we won’t get into a debate of sorts (also, our brains are fried and it’s Friday and we all wanna go home), instead let’s appreciate the beauty and intricate work of this series.

See more of Marcela’s work over here. Once you’re done, you’re free to close your computer and go for a drink :P

Happy weekend señores!

These fantastic collages are the latest work of mixed media artist Jesse Draxler. They are part of an editorial series created for CREEM magazine.

These collages have a bit of a fall/winter feel to them, don’t they? And since everyone’s posting “goodbye summer” photos and tweets, I decided to instead do a “welcome fall!” post. There’s no need to be sad for summer’s departure (I’m fucking crushed). Regardless, I am totally bookmarking these images as inspiration for future fall/winter recipes.

Happy Monday! (why, whyyy?!!).

Happy Friday guys! So, by now I’m sure you’ve been to The Jealous Curator, right? It’s pretty much one of the coolest compendiums of contemporary art on the interwebs curated by Danielle Krysa (brilliant editor and all-round lovely lady). Not only does she find rad pieces of art to share with her reader, but she’s also an artist herself! She’s even drawing people’s houses (or cars).

Growth is one of her latest series where she has gone “back to basics, back to making art because it’s fun.” I love the little stacked plants! For some reason the colours and textures seem so cozy to me, like you want to hang them in your kitchen and have them near you while baking some treats. And come on, who can resist a well stacked succulent or cactus? Yup, not us!

If you want see more of Danielle’s work visit her site In Progress, and while you’re there, pop by her blog too (bring some food cause you’ll be there for dayssss).

Happy weekend friends!

These beautifully styled posters by Danish Graphic Designer Kristina Krogh are going to everyone’s early-christmas wishlist. And by early christmas I mean get them now.

The combination of colours and textures are spot on; cork, marble, wood, brass and a few touches of pastels. These posters would make any room look extremely handsome, so handsome you might have a torrid affair with it. Kristina’s creations capture the best of both worlds: vintage, mid-century inspired style with a modern, graphic touch – one simply cannot resist but to drool all over them. Plus, the way she styled them with all of those amazing little trinkets, my god, love at first sight.

All posters are limited edition and at around US$80, they are quite an affordable option to upgrade the art on your desk or wall. If you want to drool some more, pop by Kristina’s website where you can see the whole collection. WARNING: Your credit card might get manhandled.

Nothing better than a punch of beautiful mixed media to end the week on a happy note. These incredibly colourful creations are the work of Baltimore-based artist Amy Boone-McCreesh, a gal that has a killer way of using bright hues.

“Taking inspiration from celebratory and funerary displays in various cultures, Amy aims to explore decoration and human relationships.”

It’s amazing how something that could be seen as sombre and depressing, can be turned into a cheerful work of art. And just as if these amazing collages on paper aren’t good enough, she has also created a series of 3D pieces that are even more hypnotizing – like a happy pill for your wall.

Don’t wait any longer and head over to Amy’s site to get inspired by her bright portfolio. Trust me, you’ll be hooked (and I bet after you see it you’ll be scheming lots of DIY garlands for the weekend, am I right?).

Have a good one! See you Monday, mmkay?

Julissa Lopez is a Santo Domingo based artist that has recently started an experimental series titled Women Empowerment. This series explores her own vision and thoughts on iconic women and their social influence.

I like Julissa’s colourful style – which I bet is influenced by all the tropical beauty in her country. Her work has a good amount of Kitsch without being too over the top, which is totally trending right now. Glad I discover her art thanks to the magic of tumblr!

Ah, collages. Everyone’s favorite. How can one resist their charm, wit, and sensuality. Seriously. Especially when they look as sharp as the ones created by UK-based artist Cherelle Sappleton.

Many of these collages are “experiments” in which Cherelle uses black and white images as a background, adding pops of colour here and there to see if they work together. If you ask me, they’re totally working and I – WE – really hope she continues to experiment with this technique. I’m actually thinking, these collages would look great as a background for a photo shoot no? Or as a wallpaper on a featured wall! Dudes, get on it.

Ok, this week has been a bit overwhelming with work and projects so I have nothing else to say other than, A: visit Cherelles portfolio on Behance, and B: have a happy happy weekend!

Another “make me happy” post! Today’s cheerful mixed media work is brought to you by Madame Corrine Is a Fine Lady – a.k.a. Nataša Gondry Denić – a Belgian collage artist that sure knows how to pick a classy pseudonym.

As with the other posts featured this week – Nataša’s work is quirky, playful, and clever. I feel collage is the perfect medium to combine all of these elements – a personal fave fo sho.

Now, I just need to find one that has avocados, mountains and sexy lumberjacks – then I can escape into my perfect alternate reality. Totally normal, right? Tell me, what would yours look like?
