Patricia Treib creates paintings that remind me of sweet summer sorbets, right? The colours and lightness of the paintings definitely set the mood for a cheerful hot season.

Here in Vancouver the weather has been kinda all over the place, one day it feels like the best summer ever, then the next it’s cold as hell, and on the next one it rains. All these dramatic weather fluctuations come with a pretty prize – the sight of flower petals being carried down the street by little streams of water. In fact, those mushy colourful petals on the sidewalk remind me of beautiful paintings like these.

Oh man, these paintings are screaming SUMMER at the top of their lungs! They make you want to run out of the office and go to dip at the nearest pool, right? The water details are crazy! Those light patterns created by pool water are a sign of happiness, I swear.

Josep Moncada is the summery artist that created this beautiful paintings, he lives and works in the Balearic Islands in Spain, which explains why his work is drenched in heat and rad action. This talented fella was actually an accountant by trade, and it wasn’t until he was around 27 years old that (and while also taking art courses on the side) to become a full-time artist. See, it’s never too late to pick up a brand new – amazing – career.

Paco Pomet lives and works in Granada, Spain, from where he creates crazy surreal paintings like the ones above.

A bubble gum river, a gold foil mountain, a glacier inside an office – all is possible with the magic of his brush. I love that each painting uses one colour as the base and all the details and different shades of that same hue make it eye catching.

Are you feeling the jungle fever? Yes!? Me too. It’s probably because summer is around the corner and – even though I no longer go to school – I feel the same excitement of the semester being over.

This jungle fever is brought to you by Australian artist Emily Ferreti. Her paintings are wonderful mix of landscapes, architecture, and household items, and tribal shapes. Her works looks to me it should be all over Apartamento magazine.

YAAAS! I love finding new favourites! Ladies and gentlemen these are the fantastic paintings of Alan Reid, a Texas-born artist that well deserves this post to get the week started.

His paintings mix fashion inspired elements with patterns, soft pastels, and even some hand lettering. Total winner! As a declared sucker of all-things-pastel-and-pink, these beauties are my new obsession. I think his work would look awesome on tshirts or those oversized sweatshirts worn by euro fashionistas.

Can we take a moment to love these paintings? Then we can all go back to our mundane Monday…ugh..

Oh, my sweet graphic design and art lovers, I have something cool for you today: the paintings of Clare Rojas. These paintings are the perfect marriage (sans the nasty prenup) between symmetry and bright colours.

They all are part of her abstract rebirth, which is her latest work after a long break she took to recharge and refuel her creative batteries. Oh girl, we hear ya loud and clear!

Happy Monday boys and girls! How was y’alls weekend? Hope you had a good one!

I had a rather exciting one (thanks for asking). I finally completed – for the very first time – the Vancouver Sun Run, which is Canada’s largest 10K run. And yes, I made it to the finish line! (though by the end of it I was so hungry that it looked like a stretched cupcake). I must say, I now know why peeps get so worked up about races and running, it really pumps your endorphins and makes you happy.

Speaking of happy, these paintings by Gustavo Peña are like happy memories of summers past, you know? Dressing up in your hipstery clothes, taking photos of friends jumping in the lake, dressing up in obscure outfits for chic soirees, that kind of stuff. I like the grungy vibe of these paintings – my fave being the very first one with lots of pink and blue.

Ah, are you as thirsty as I am for summer? Seriously, as of late that’s all I can think about, and this kind of art is making me itch for sunshine even more!

Oh hey, is this a new type of cubism? Perhaps coolism?

These portraits by Canadian artist Erik Olson (yaaas, represent!) give me feelings. I love how each brush stroke has so much texture, it’s almost like icing, but in the shape of art.

His new portraits series is packed with bright hues and multidimensional subjects. They kinda remind me of those weaved collages that have been recently featured in several fashion magazines (you know which ones I’m talking about?).

Portraits, texture, and lots of colour. I am definitely gonna keep an eye on this guy.

Spring has sprung and so has the art!…and the allergies! *sneezes*. At least we have some beautiful paintings to look at while we stuff kleenex up our nose so it stops leaking (gross).

These spring-worthy paintings are the work of Marta Marzal, an artist whose portfolio seems to transition the same way seasons do, from dark moody still life, to colourful floral portraits. Seriously, I cannot be more excited about the sun coming out! The warmth in the air will definitely bring lots of good vibes for art and life in general.

Is it too early to start bathing suit shopping??! *pointy nipples from cold*

Remember these paintings by Liza Lacroix? Hauntingly beautiful, yeah?

Judging by her tumblr she’s been quite busy creating new paintings, and they are just as awesome as the ones I featured before. Her style of bold brush strokes continues in her new series, but I did noticed she didn’t add carnival elements anymore, instead she went for a bit of a fashion/medieval look? Yes? Or am I on crack?

I love love the chunks of pink contrasting with the dark background. All of them in a row on my wall would look absolutely dashing…I guess I should add them to my letter to santa this year. Want one too? Maybe we can ask him for a group discount! :P
