Kyle Thompson
Kyle Thompson’s self portraits are worthy of an “waaaaaah” facial expression. You know? When you open your mouth and scratch your head thinking, how did he come up with this!?
At just 20 years of age, Kyle’s skillful eye is already putting together some serious compositions, all based in his love for books and surrealism. It’s almost as if each photograph was a little story of its own – just check out his flickr stream and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

50% PORN (SFW)
So. You know how sometimes people like to “push” boundaries and creative a debate? They like to seek controversy by bringing attention to subjects that are usually taboo.
Sometimes these people do it well and they manage to create something incredible – even eye opening – and help break those boundaries, but sometimes it’s just trying too hard and trying to create controversy for the sake of it, with little or no creativity {sort of photoshopping a picture of Jesus smoking from a bong, like..really?}.
I recently found the work of Von Brandis - which showcases empty moulds of porn scenes. It has every element that porn needs. Except the main characters.
I find his work to be really neat. It’s sexually suggestive of course – but it’s up to you to decide who the characters are and what they are really doing {you can be as dirty or naive as you want} hence the title of this post – 50% porn – you got already half of the picture, the rest is yours to imagine. Ok, some of them are pretty obvious, but again, it’s up to you!
I think it’s creative and a bit naughty, maybe even smart {the subject PORN always attracts attention, good and bad} and I really dig the vintage looking colours.
What’s your opinion? You like it? You don’t? Is it blah, or is it oh la la? Leave a comment below and let me know. Now go get some clean erotica:
QUICK DISCLAIMER: Mr. Yams - who’s sitting next to me as I post this - just said “Who are you kidding, this is porn” - haha, are you on the same boat?

FEATURED: Angel Marcelo, your weekend treat starts now
This post is gonna make your brain go BOOOM!
It may be shit weather outside {if you are not in Vancouver you’re probably already tanning} and it may stay like shit for a bit more, but – thanks to amazing artists like Angel from Argentina – the blog is always bright, full of color and full of life. So at the end of a crappy day, just come and chill in here, all the art and creativity will make you feel cozy wozy.
Bring on those psychedelic paintings and get the weekend started. Tell me, what do you see in these paintings? What is your subconscious saying right now? {I know, it’s saying ‘Fuck.Angel.Thanks for that’ , right? }
Leave your comments and describe what kind of hallucinations you’re experiencing right now. Trip away my friend.

Icelandic Chronic Bitchface
Don’t worry, this post isn’t bashing anyone! It’s about natural beauty and positive vibes…
I’ve been following Iceland on Twitter for some time now. Every now and then the bastards {marvelous souls} behind that account post the most amazing pictures and videos that make me want to impulsively buy a ticket to Reykjavik, go swim in their amazing hot springs and take a hike on Eyjafjallajokull {the volcano that spits ashes…and consonants} oh and if you still have trouble pronouncing it – here, watch this instructional Icelandic video.
The main reason I want to go is because really, those landscapes would inspire anyone. If you don’t get inspired by their beauty, there is something wrong with you and you should get your eyes checked. And your brain.
Natural beauty has the best regenerating properties; it calms your mind, cleanses your soul and recharges your creative batteries.
Here are a few of my favorite shots from Iceland taken on a trip by a great freelance illustrator – Kristina of Kris Atomic - and a few other shots from peeps on Flickr {found on her blog}. By the way, Kristina has some awesome illustrations too, one of my favorites is her ‘Chronic Bitchface‘ {are you a sufferer?}. Also, I’ll share with you a happy video that gets you in the right mood in the AM – cuz we all need happy vibes in the morning, right?
2012 might be the year that I could potentially visit this land of greatness {hopefully before the whole end-of-the-world prophecy} fingers crossed!
A huge thank you to both, Kristina and Iceland, for being so lively and inspirational. Takk Fyrir! {sophisticated, yes}
