Oriol Angrill Jordà
Watercolor and acrylic paintings by Oriol Angrill Jordà. For a second I thought these were pictures!
It’s great to see how different mediums influence each other – in this case double exposure photos seem to be the inspiration.

boxes by Charles Clary

Just when I thought I had seen it all in paper and colour – Charles Clary comes along.
Charles creates little wonderful worlds using paper, acrylic paint and a whole lotta talent:
I use paper to create a world of fiction that challenges the viewer to suspend disbelief and venture into my fabricated reality
Charles, your art is such a trip – I don’t want it to end! The detail, the layers, the colours, everything about it is just crazy good. Indeed you transport us into your fabricated reality. Please, send some of your boxes to Vancouver! We always welcome colour with open arms.

beautiful messed up minds – George Korsmit

George Korsmit - installation view 'Looking Around for Side Streets', Elllen de Bruijne Projects, Amsterdam, 2009
I am a bit obsessed with George Korsmit. His art is right up my alley – and I’m assuming yours too. Geometry, bright colours, pattern – just put Thor’s muscles in it and I’ll marry it.
How freaking incredible is the floor above? AH! Shitballs, so inspiring.
Lately I’ve been meaning to paint but, to be honest, I’m kinda scared. A canvas is such a powerful tool of communication and I’m always thinking “Wait, is this what I really wanna say?” – I feel sooner or later I’ll have to face my fear and just paint whatever comes out (I’ve done collages with a bit of paint here and there but not a full-on, finished canvas – eeek!) I’ll have to grab the brush by the balls and get’er done, George Korsmit style.

(1 of 6) 'Nobody's out there, we're all in here', wall painting, W1397, Amsterdam, 7,80 x 18,60m, 2008
Ok, so I think this post calls for a little bit of colour inspiration, don’t you think? I’m going to start with my favourite piece from George’s collection – “Mess up my mind mess up my mind” (hence the title on this post) an ode to colour and symmetry.
Hope these palettes help you in some way – perhaps to pick out an outfit or to decide what your next kitchen would look like, maybe even the tones on your next master piece on a canvas!

Creativity Found In Dripping Dots
Hello!
Holy time travel batman! It’s Friday night. I remember posting something on Monday and then the rest of the week got hazy - except – Tuesday night when I celebrated 1 year of awesomeness with Mr. Yams. One year yo! and going strong. It certainly sounds easy but it ain’t. One thing my friends and I talk about whenever you celebrate these kinds of things is that you really have to always work to inject some surprise element into your relationships. Doesn’t matter if they are friends, family, your boyfriend or girlfriend. Keeping it fresh keeps it real and strong!
Now that I am done with this mini session of Dr. Queen of Hearts, let’s move on to the art.
I found these cool cool painting in my Google reader – aka Ark Of Treasures – and oh man I wish I wasn’t as broke as I am right now cuz I am feeling in the mood for something round and drippy (no, this ain’t X-rated late night talk) something that looks like the creations of Caroline Wright (some paintings are around $250 bones, not bad! but out my budget at the moment). My personal favorite; the 1st one with yellow and pink on the top.
Oh and before I forget, happy turkey dinner to all you Canadians out there! Are you going to stuff your faces this weekend? Hope so. I wish you the best digestion possible. May your gastric juices flow like the rivers in the mountains to brake down those 5 servings of pie. Hmmm…pie. On a serious note, remember to take at least 1 minute during dinner (or while in your turkey coma) to say thank you to life. She’ll thank you back.
