Underwater Photography by Alexander Semenov

Underwater Photography by Alexander SemenovNothing compares to the outstanding design of nature. Colors, shapes, symmetry – all perfect! Alexander Semenov knows this too and he has gone to the depths of ocean to capture living creatures that are more like living art. Do you always look for the jellyfish tank when you go the aquarium? I do! Those creatures are amazing, so serene and beautiful – except when you touch them and then someone has to pee on you to get rid of the pain. Oh well, there has to be a price for all of this perfection, right?

Inside The View by Helen Sear

Photography by Helen Sear
I am seriously loving these photographs by Helen Sear. They’re all part of her series Inside The View in which Helen used photographs and digital manipulation to create layers of textures and colors that resemble lace and vintage film. She actually drew some of the textures herself (with a tablet) – crazy huh?

These images totally inspired me to grab my polaroid and explore the city this weekend! What about you? Do you like Helen’s work?

These images by Nacho Ormaechea make think of what people are really up to – you know? Like, grandma here is all cute and quiet, but maybe she’s really thinking of that naughty night she had at the motel when she was 18 with grandpas’ best friend. Or what about that kid with the iPod, looking all thug-y – maybe he just wants to be in a broadway musical.

Maybe yes, maybe no. Only Nacho knows! (He created all these images as a personal project, pretty neat no?).

This post comes from Mount Desert Island, Maine, where landscape architect Jennifer Steen Booher has been collecting shoreline treasures for about two years. After beachcombing, she gathers her gems and neatly arranges them against a clean background to pop all the colors and textures. The result: these nifty photos. You must admit, you need an architect’s eye to be able to combine so many random objects into one mighty image.

“Each photo in the series documents the things I found beautiful or curious on a particular beach on a particular day. Because they are so rooted in time and place, the compositions become stylized beach portraits.  As I research the things I find or observe, the photos also record my growing understanding of the coastal environment”

You can find Jennifer’s work on her site or on Etsy.

These chromogenic prints titled Quantum Blink by Isabel M. Martinez are surely tripping me out. They remind me of those old school 3D cards that would change the image whenever you moved them. This is the pro version though, the precision used to arrange each strip is quite amazing. Wouldn’t it be cool to do this as a fun arty project?

Brazilian photographer David Copithorne has created some incredible images by mixing film, digital manipulation and geometry. The results are seriously cool! Like looking through another dimension. I mean, how pretty are those landscapes, right? I don’t know if he also intended to use those colors – but the tint and complimenting colors in each photograph are super trendy. You know? The whole pastels + mint is pretty hawt right now. Kudos to you Mr. David!
