Nothing better than a punch of beautiful mixed media to end the week on a happy note. These incredibly colourful creations are the work of Baltimore-based artist Amy Boone-McCreesh, a gal that has a killer way of using bright hues.

“Taking inspiration from celebratory and funerary displays in various cultures, Amy aims to explore decoration and human relationships.”

It’s amazing how something that could be seen as sombre and depressing, can be turned into a cheerful work of art. And just as if these amazing collages on paper aren’t good enough, she has also created a series of 3D pieces that are even more hypnotizing – like a happy pill for your wall.

Don’t wait any longer and head over to Amy’s site to get inspired by her bright portfolio. Trust me, you’ll be hooked (and I bet after you see it you’ll be scheming lots of DIY garlands for the weekend, am I right?).

Have a good one! See you Monday, mmkay?

Julissa Lopez is a Santo Domingo based artist that has recently started an experimental series titled Women Empowerment. This series explores her own vision and thoughts on iconic women and their social influence.

I like Julissa’s colourful style – which I bet is influenced by all the tropical beauty in her country. Her work has a good amount of Kitsch without being too over the top, which is totally trending right now. Glad I discover her art thanks to the magic of tumblr!

Ah, collages. Everyone’s favorite. How can one resist their charm, wit, and sensuality. Seriously. Especially when they look as sharp as the ones created by UK-based artist Cherelle Sappleton.

Many of these collages are “experiments” in which Cherelle uses black and white images as a background, adding pops of colour here and there to see if they work together. If you ask me, they’re totally working and I – WE – really hope she continues to experiment with this technique. I’m actually thinking, these collages would look great as a background for a photo shoot no? Or as a wallpaper on a featured wall! Dudes, get on it.

Ok, this week has been a bit overwhelming with work and projects so I have nothing else to say other than, A: visit Cherelles portfolio on Behance, and B: have a happy happy weekend!

Another “make me happy” post! Today’s cheerful mixed media work is brought to you by Madame Corrine Is a Fine Lady – a.k.a. Nataša Gondry Denić – a Belgian collage artist that sure knows how to pick a classy pseudonym.

As with the other posts featured this week – Nataša’s work is quirky, playful, and clever. I feel collage is the perfect medium to combine all of these elements – a personal fave fo sho.
