Manon Kündig – The Bowerbird Collection
Dec

Kinda crazy and definitely awesome – the new Bowerbird Collection of Manon Kündig is an explosion of colors and textures. It has kitschy elements, granny details and lots of florals – aaah, heaven! Plus, when was the last time you saw a bunch of carrots and tomatoes looking all artsy in a fashion shoot?
Definitely 2012 was FULL of rad patterns – if there’s something I learned this year is that there is no limit to what you can create with them. Sculptures, installations, fashion spreads, food, aah! Too much coolness. On Monday I’ll post some of THE BEST 2012 moments from the blog, the most popular posts and of course, the best art!
Happy weekend desperados.

Actress Jessica Chastain for W Magazine

For the January 2013 Issue of W magazine – Art Meets Fashion – actress Jessica Chastain becomes a muse and canvas for four outstanding artists – Chantal Choffe, Rineke Dijkstra, George Condo and Mickalene Thomas. Each one of them created a look with Jessica Chastain as the main focus. From photo shoots to painted portraits, the results are mighty, fashiony, and oh so artsy!
Can’t wait to get my hands on this issue. Quite the inspiration, isn’t it?

secret garden by Enrico Nagel

I am in awe with these collage series titled Secret Garden by Enrico Nagel. First of all, the whole floral theme is very trendy right now so he gets extra points for that – but – by adding a few extra timeless elements like avant garde couture and solid colors – Enrico has managed to create strong modern art pieces that will remain beautiful, regardless of any trend.
I find similarities between Enrico’s work and Ashkan Hornarvar - who happens to be one of my favorite mixed media artists. I guess the list of favorites will just keep getting bigger and bigger!

A bit ago I did a guest post over at YellowTrace – one of my favorite art and design blogs from Australia (lot’s of yellow happening on their site, which is a mega plus, of course!). On that post I shared a few collages that just blew my mind and today I would like to share them with you (they’re THAT amazing).
All these collages are part of a brilliant series titled Vanitas by Ashkan Hornarvar. The mix of fashion elements, color and texture is just mouth watering. Series like this make me get all tingly and thankful – thankful that some people like Ashkan are so so talented.
