Costumes for art lovers

ART. Noemi Mazzucchelli | ACCESSORIES 1. hat and pipe | 2.shirt | 3.orange tie | 4. burgundy blazer

A little bit of Belgian surrealism for Halloween, anyone? If you’re looking for an awesome costume without having to suffer all the hassles that come with it, such as putting make-up on, dripping blood all over your face and having to deal with the toxic aftermath – then this art inspired outfit is for you my friend. If you want to add an extra “gallery” feeling – ask your friends to stare at you while they rub their chins humming “hmmm…hmmm” – so enigmatic!

Kapow! How’s this to get ready for the weekend?

Jenny Morgan is an American artist that loves to create portraits of girls in large formats. Aren’t they incredible? Bright colors and seductive mamacitas galore!…I mean, women – sorry, I haven’t slept this week at all.

Ok time for me to go get shit done before hitting the hay- just in case you haven’t read my latest 1000 tweets - I recently curated the art on the walls for this event which opens tomorrow. I’m also going to be teaching my very 1st Artful City Walks workshop! Not trying to ring my bell here, but the workshop sold out! (yes, ring that motha fucking bell!) Eeeek. So excited, so happy and so nervous! Hope you could all be there, but hey, that’s what this blog is for, right? To hang out and talk about lovely art, even though we might be oceans apart.

Speaking of lovely art, which Jenny’s painting is your favorite? I’m torn between the one above and this one:

Happy weekend amigos! I’ll report back next week with lots of anecdotes from the show. If you want to join from afar, you can do so via twitter or Instagram. Lots of love!

falling garden by Gerda Steiner & Jörg Lenzlinger

Isn’t this peaceful? A beautiful delicate garden hanging from the ceiling of an even more beautiful church? I wish we could all be there right now!

This installation by Swiss artists Gerda Steiner and Jörg Lenzlinger was created back in 2003 for the 5oth Venice Biennial. I happened to stumble upon it while I was browsing through YellowTrace (killer blog!). The work that goes into this installation is just breathtaking.

If you could have something like this brought to your city, where would you house it? I think I’d have it installed in Stanley Park, in a nice hidden spot that trekkers can find.
