What are you guys doing for Halloween? Did you party it all out last weekend? Today marks the official date to dress up and be spooky – you have one last day to goof around and scare the crap out of people! All while looking super dashing, of course. Isn’t Pauline Darley’s photo great? I was saving it  for the last Costumes for Art Lovers post. Fashion meets afterlife. To be honest, you gals could get this getup and still use it for the rest of the year. Multi-task that shit!

Happy Halloween everyone. Go hit a haunted house or even better, go frighten your neighbors kids! (not responsible for any lawsuits).

Another Mexican classic (obviously I have a soft spot for it). La Catrina – a Dia de Muertos character that represents death and beauty. You see, in my country we celebrate death, we see it as a transition and not as the “end of life”. We make fun of it, we embrace it and we are taught to not be afraid as it is a natural and inevitable process that will ultimately take you to a better place (sounds easy, right?).

La Catrina – a staple of this celebration – has been a traditional icon for ages. Folk art and ancient tales coming together for this costume. What else could you ask for?

A little bit of Belgian surrealism for Halloween, anyone? If you’re looking for an awesome costume without having to suffer all the hassles that come with it, such as putting make-up on, dripping blood all over your face and having to deal with the toxic aftermath – then this art inspired outfit is for you my friend. If you want to add an extra “gallery” feeling – ask your friends to stare at you while they rub their chins humming “hmmm…hmmm” – so enigmatic!

Halloween is just around the corner and we all know how it goes – at the very last minute you freak out because you have nothing to wear to that awesome costume party and –  in this day and age –  the “Oh! I know, I am going to be a sexy [insert lame costume here]” is not valid anymore.

With that in mind, I have created a new mini blog project called Costumes for Art Lovers; a project filled with posts that will help you channel your artsy-halloween vibes, all while looking quite dapper. Today’s post is all about Frida and her flower power. I found almost everything on Etsy! So it’s super affordable. I’m pretty sure you can get similar stuff at your local thrift store. Oh, and dudes, worry not – I have something for you on the next costume post!
